Floor coating in Kreis Heinsberg
Surfaces built to take more.
A floor coating turns an open, dusty substrate into a closed surface: no joints, easy to mop, properly finished where it meets the walls and columns. We build it up on site, one room at a time.

Where a coating actually changes something
Not every room needs one. In these five it is usually the answer to a problem the existing floor will not solve on its own.
Bare screed in a cellar gives off dust, draws in moisture and never quite comes clean. Coated, the surface is closed, brighter and can be mopped like any other floor.
Tyres, road salt and whatever gets put down in the corner all work on an untreated floor. A coating takes that wear and sweeps clean instead of soaking everything up.
Where people work, things get dropped and spilled. On a seamless surface nothing settles into cracks, and the room reads brighter because the coating gives light back.
The rooms nobody looks at are the ones that age fastest. A coating keeps them in a state you are willing to use, without much upkeep.
For a working floor what counts is how quickly it is clean again. We match the build up to how the room is used and agree in advance when you get it back.
What is actually possible depends on the substrate. We look at it first and will tell you plainly if a coating is not the right answer here.
From the existing substrate to a finished surface
A coated floor is not paint, it is a build up. Every layer has a job and none of them can be added later. Step through the section from the bottom up.

The result is one continuous surface without joints, closed neatly against walls and fittings. It can be mopped and it stops giving off dust. When the room can be used again follows the manufacturer data for the material used, and we tell you that before the first working day.
The coating goes on in closed passes and is joined wet in wet so no start marks are left standing. Edges, columns and the skirting run in the same pass. How many coats are needed depends on the material and on the substrate.
The primer soaks into the substrate, binds the remaining dust and creates the grip for the coating. On absorbent floors it is also what stops the top layer from drying in patches.
The substrate is cleaned, loose material comes off and the surface is opened up so the material can grip. Holes, damaged spots and edges are closed. This step takes the most time and it decides the result.
It starts with the floor you have: screed, concrete or an older coating. We check whether it is sound, solid and dry, and look for cracks, loose areas and moisture. Only then is it clear what makes sense on this surface.
A finished floor, close up
This photograph is from one of our own jobs: a utility room in a private cellar, fully coated. Four points show what matters in the execution.

Floor, skirting, junctions and the drain carried out in one go
01
Seamless floor
The coating runs through the whole room without a break, including between the columns.
02
Coating carried up the wall
The surface does not stop at the wall, it runs up it as a skirting.
03
Junctions at the columns
The skirting is carried round every column and closed.
04
Floor drain
The coating is taken right up to the drain and finished cleanly against it.

Colour and how the room reads
The colour decides how bright a room feels and how much wear you notice on it. We agree it before the first working day.
Olive grey
The colour of the job shown above. Calm, forgiving, good for back rooms with little daylight.
Pebble grey
Neutral and quiet. Shows neither light nor dark dust particularly clearly.
Light grey
Gives a lot of light back and makes a low cellar noticeably friendlier.
Stone grey
A cooler colour with some blue in it. Suits workshops and plant rooms.
Sand beige
A warm colour for rooms that are also used as living space.
Anthracite
Dark and robust in feel. The usual choice in garages.
These panels are representations to help you choose. They are not photographs and not a product range.
Which colours are available in the chosen material is settled before anything is ordered. A sample on your own floor tells you more than any panel on a screen.
What to know before we start
A coating is only as good as the floor under it. We clear these points during the site visit, before anything is ordered.
- Substrate
- Has to be sound, solid and dry. What the existing floor allows decides the build up.
- Preparation
- Clean, remove loose material, open the surface, close holes and edges.
- Application
- In closed passes, with edges and skirting in the same operation.
- Curing
- According to the manufacturer data for the material used. The room is not loaded before that.
- Load
- Matched to how the room is used. A cellar, a garage and a workshop are not the same thing.
- Cleaning
- A seamless surface that can be mopped, instead of screed that drinks the water.
- Moisture
- Rising damp is checked beforehand. We do not coat a substrate that is wet.
Common questions
No. The substrate has to be sound, solid and dry enough. An old loose coating, or screed with rising damp, has to be dealt with first. We look at the floor and say so openly if a coating is not the right answer.
It depends on the area and above all on the condition of the substrate. Preparation usually takes longer than the application itself, and on top of that the material needs its drying and curing time. After the site visit you get a schedule you can plan around.
That follows the material used and the manufacturer data for it. Walkable and fully loadable are two different points in time. You get both before we start, so you can plan.
The price follows the area, the condition of the substrate and how much preparation it needs. That is why we do not quote a square metre rate blind. We look at the room and give you a fixed offer afterwards.
Who does the work
Farbenhaft24 Raumgestaltung is an owner run business based in Hückelhoven. The person on site is the owner himself.

Tobias Knopczyk has been working on sites across Kreis Heinsberg and the surrounding area since 2012, from a single cellar room to a whole flat. Floor coating is one of those trades where care shows immediately: a surface that was not properly prepared gives itself away after the first winter.
So the looking happens before the work, not the patching afterwards. You speak to the same person from the first visit to the handover, and you get an honest answer even when it argues against the job.
